on a long strange trip thru the southeast of the usa. first stop was knoxville, tn at the world grotto & holy smokin laptops, it was killer. the walls dripped. i actually sweat so much my clothes didnt fit anymore. next is greenville, sc & ending in asheville, nc. i forgot what ‘the rest of america’ looked like; the glorious symbolisms of our culture like a mcdonalds & perkins symbiotically situating themselves across the superhighways every 5 miles, monolithic billboards advertising holy places like dollywood & mega-churches, & knowing people cannot smoke inside (thumbs up!) but can bring their guns in (thumbs down). most of the time when i’m going city to city my reality is pretty much airport to car to venue to hotel to airport but this time im driving a bit, thru what is admittedly stunningly gorgeous tropical looking greenery & thru the webs of mountain ranges, but so polluted with the most disappointing of good ol’ american representations of what the majority of our country stands for outside of my safe wholesome bubble of the progessive & diverse sf bay area. realizing that im cuising thru the bible belt & stared at A LOT, i dont feel threatened or afraid really. its more inspiration to live my truth, live with passion & drop even more compassion, laughter, knowledge, & undeniably soul-shaking beats wherever i am.
