the southern expedition.

on a long strange trip thru the southeast of the usa. first stop was knoxville, tn at the world grotto & holy smokin laptops, it was killer. the walls dripped. i actually sweat so much my clothes didnt fit anymore. next is greenville, sc & ending in asheville, nc. i forgot what ‘the rest of america’ looked like; the glorious symbolisms of our culture like a mcdonalds & perkins symbiotically situating themselves across the superhighways every 5 miles, monolithic billboards advertising holy places like dollywood & mega-churches, & knowing people cannot smoke inside (thumbs up!) but can bring their guns in (thumbs down). most of the time when i’m going city to city my reality is pretty much airport to car to venue to hotel to airport but this time im driving a bit, thru what is admittedly stunningly gorgeous tropical looking greenery & thru the webs of mountain ranges, but so polluted with the most disappointing of good ol’ american representations of what the majority of our country stands for outside of my safe wholesome bubble of the progessive & diverse sf bay area. realizing that im cuising thru the bible belt & stared at A LOT, i dont feel threatened or afraid really. its more inspiration to live my truth, live with passion & drop even more compassion, laughter, knowledge, & undeniably soul-shaking beats wherever i am.

“its more inspiration to live my truth, live with passion & drop even more compassion, laughter, knowledge, & undeniably soul-shaking beats wherever i am” - you go girl. Hope to have you visit our shores here in Australia sometime - love your work, I’m spinning similar tunes over here. Respekt

Hei,

Long time no see…too long. This is noodle from Seattle. I am stuck
down here in New Orleans and have been trying for three weeks to get a
ride to Houston to see you in Rusko play tonight. I’m super
disappointed that I won’t be able to be there, but I’m sure you’ll
rage it proper. Why doesn’t anyone play in N.O? I don’t know either.

Have a rad show. I miss hearing you play. I’m moving back to NorCal
soon, so I’ll be able to remedy that…

peace,
noodle

Amen. Sounds like you’re living beautiful and unusual.

Peace be the journey.

Happy to hear about your journey. Do the people in the bible belt clap?

I was reading “Inside Rock Music,” a book for bible thumpers, BY bible thumpers last night. Totally inside out book, you’d get a kick out of it. (SPOILER: in the end, it turns out that “our” reality is much finer)

Well, after Bowie was done with his set at the Grotto, my daughter and I were going to step outside for water and air….let me just say we didn’t even make it to the stairs!
You are the first female DJ we have seen and let me tell you girl, you didn’t let us down, just as you promised right before you started!
Thanks for a great night! My daughter and I bond over this kind of music…
Hope you’ll consider coming back!
